i just have some questions for you and hope u can take time to answer insha'Allah...

not every sufi is a Muslim...? meaning non-Muslims can be 'sufi' too?

please can u define what your definition of 'sufi' is?

I thought to be a sufi u had to be a Muslim, ie to believe in Allah and His Beloved Messenger sallahu alaihi wasallam... and if u did do that, then surely ud be amonst those submitting to a Higher Being and thus be a Muslim right?

....i dont think 'real' sufis call themself sufis anyway, i think its others that brand or classify them as that due to their deep spirituality and closeness to God.

I look forward to any clarifications, all good is from Allah alone and anything wrong i have said is from my own self.

Salaam Alaikum to all brothers and sisters of Islam. It is true Saydah Safiya sufism or tasawuff[i] is represented by the word of Quran which is Tazakiya(Purication) And it is also true that it is represented through Ihsan. And the pillars that combine in order to reach the state of Ihsan is through Islam and then Iman.
But through different styles of purification, there is the training of the heart and also the training of the nafs. Through purication of the nafs, all people are including. but forwards the purication of the heart it is through Islam(sumbission) AND Iman(purity of faith).[/i]
