Bismillah-hir-rahman-nir-raheem
In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Most Merciful

The Bismillah - 19 letters - also called –[ayatul-aman]. verse of Scripture that Guarantees Protection

Bismillah-hir-rahman-nir-raheem
[Ayatul-amana] -verse of Scripture that Guarantees Protection

Scholars say that "In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, Most Merciful" is an oath from our Lord which He revealed at the beginning of every sura. By it, He swears to His slaves, "What I have laid down for you, My slaves, in this sura is true.

I will fulfil for you all that I guarantee in this sura of My promise, kindness and gentleness." "In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, Most Merciful" is part of what Allah revealed in His Book, and this is special for this Community after prophet Sulayman. Some scholars say that "In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, Most Merciful" contains all the Shari'a because it indicates the Essence and the Attributes.

If someone picks up from the ground a piece of paper with "Bismillah-hir-rahman-nir-raheem ‘ upon it, because he regards Allah as far too Exalted to have His Name trampled underfoot, that person will be recorded in His presence as one of the champions of truth [siddiqin], and his parents will be granted an alleviation [of their punishment], even if they are guilty of associating partners with Allah [mushrikm].

Iblis the Damned was never heard to utter a plaintive cry, except on three occasions. The first time he uttered a plaintive cry was when he was damned and expelled from the Kingdom of Heaven.

He emitted another such cry when the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) was born, and he uttered his third lament when the Opening Sura Al-faitha was revealed because it began with Bismillah-hir-rahman-nir-raheem.

No supplication [dua] will ever be rejected if it is prefaced with " Bismillah-hir-rahman-nir-raheem In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the All-Compassionate."

You will find Allah’s forgiveness in saying bismillah.

Ali ibn Abi Talib looked at a man who had written, "In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, Most Merciful," and told him, "Do it well. If a man does it well, he will be forgiven."

A man looked at a parchment on which was written 'In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, Most Merciful,' and kissed it and placed it on his eyes and was forgiven on account of that.

He is ar-Rahman (for this world) by virtue of One single Mercy (which we see on earth for all mankind and those who don’t even believe in Him) and ar-Rahim (next world) by virtue of hundred Mercies, (which is Only for the believers and we will be treated by on 100 of His Mercies on the Day of Judgement.)

The Name Ar-Rahman is a general name for all types of mercy for which Allah is singled out. Rahim can be used for how He is towards the believers, as He says, "He is merciful to the believers." (33:43). Al-'Arazami says that Rahman is merciful to all His creatures with rain, physical and general blessings, and Rahim is merciful to the believers in guiding them and being kind to them.

When the Rahman is asked He gives and when the Rahim is not asked, He is angry. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Allah is Compassionate. He loves compassion and gives for compassion what he does not for harshness."

Bismillah is healing from every illness and protection against every disease. Ar-Rahman is a help for everyone who believes in Him. It is a name not used for anyone else. Ar-Rahim is for those who repent, believe and perform righteous actions.

Say His Name – Bismillah-hir-rahman-nir-raheem at the beginning of every action

The basmala is the crown of the suras, we have been Instructed ; write it in your books and letters (for there is only success and blessings in that which is started in Allah’ Name; meaning in Bismillah-hir-rahman-nir-raheem) and when you set it down in writing, pronounce it aloud.

The meaning of "In the Name of Allah" is "by Allah", and the meaning of "by Allah" is by His creation and determination to reach what is reached. Some say that "In the Name of Allah" means "I begin with the help, success and blessing of Allah. This is Allah teaching His slaves to mention His Name at the beginning of actions.

The Shari'a recommends mentioning the basmala at the beginning of every action, like eating, drinking, slaughtering, sex, purification, embarking on a ship and the like. Allah says, "Eat that over which the name of Allah has been mentioned" (6:119) and "He said, 'Embark in it. In the name of Allah be its voyage and its landing!'" (11:41)

The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Lock your door and mention the Name of Allah. Put out your lamp and mention the Name of Allah. Cover your vessel and mention the Name of Allah. Tie up your waterskin and mention the Name of Allah." He said, "If anyone of you wants to go to his wife, he should say, 'In the Name of Allah. O Allah, keep shaytan away from us and keep shaytan away from what You provide us with.' If a child is decreed for them, Shaytan will not harm him at all."
So recite it abundantly, sitting, standing, walking, going up/down a hill and with every action to do.

In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the All Compassionate; It is one of the Names of Allah and the closeness between it and the Greatest Name of Allah-[Ism ‘Azam the hidden Name of Allah] is just like the closeness that exists between the iris and the white of the eye.

[Ayatul-amana]- verse of Scripture that Guarantees Protection

The Noble Pen Qalam started with Bismillah-hir-rahman-nir-raheem. on the Noble Tablet – Lawh .Then Allah decreed that this ayat [verse of Scripture] would serve as an assurance of protection [aman] for His creatures, as long as they made a regular practice of reciting it. The recitation of it thus became the regular practice of the inhabitants of the Seven Heavens, the inhabit-ants of the Highest Plane, the inhabitants of the Canopies of Glory, and the Archangels [Karubiyyun], as well as of all pure beings and those who constantly proclaim the absolute glory of the Lord.

Whoever wants Allah to rescue him from the nineteen Zabaniyya [tormenting angels within the Fire of Hell], should recite, 'In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, Most Merciful' so that Allah will make each letter a shield for him against one of them. The basmala contains nineteen letters according to the number of the angels of the Fire who Allah says are also nineteen. See (74:30)

Allah has caused this ayat to be effective as a cure for every sickness, an aid to every kind of healing treatment, a relief from every form of poverty, a shield against the Fire of Hell, and a guarantee of security from degradation, misrepresentation and slanderous accusation, as long as they [His believing servants] keep up the practice of reciting it.

Your ‘awra – Nakedness is hidden from Jinns when you say bismillah when you undress or go to the toilet, otherwise they see you nakedness.

On the Day of Resurrection, the members of my Community will be saying: "In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the All-Compassionate [Bismillah-hir-rahman-nir-raheem," and so, when their deeds are placed in the balance, their good deeds will outweigh [their bad deeds].

The other religious communities will then of course ask: "What can have caused the scales to weigh so heavily in favour of the Community of Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him peace)?"

So their Prophets will tell them: "Whenever they had something important to say, the members of the Community of Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him peace) would always begin by invoking three of the Noble;
Names of Allah (Exalted is He), knowing the gravity of those Names to be such that if they were placed in one scale of the balance, even if all the bad deeds of their fellow creatures in their entirety were placed in the other scale, their good deeds would certainly weigh heavier [than the bad]."

Invoking three of the Noble: The whole expression "In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the All-Compassionate Bismillah-hir-rahman-nir-raheem" is sometimes referred to the three Noble Names contained within are (1) Allah, (2) the All-Merciful [ar-Rahman] and (3) the All-Compassionate [ar'Rahim].

when it was sent down to Adam (peace be upon him) and when he received it he said: 'My offspring will be safe from punishment, as long as they continue to recite it!' Then take back to heaven, then sent down to Prophet Ibrahim while he was held inside the catapult and the fire was made cool by it, then taken back to Heaven and sent to Prophet Musa to fight Pharaoh and this sorcerers and then taken back to Heaven. Then down to Prophet Sulayman; and Prophet Sulayman only had to recite it on any creature and he had full control of it.

Then taken back to Heaven and sent to Isa ibn Mariyam, and he was informed that it is the verse of Scripture that Guarantees Protection [ayatul-aman].

Allah swore by His Almighty Glory that His Name would never be uttered over an illness without His healing that illness, that His Name would never be pronounced over anything without His blessing it, and that anyone who ever recited ‘In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the All-Compassionate’ would surely enter the Garden of Paradise."

The meaning according to the letters

It is related that 'Uthman ibn 'Affan asked the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, about the interpretation of "In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, Most Merciful."
He said, "The ba' is the trial (bala') of Allah, His relief, brilliance and radiance (baha').
The sin is the splendour (sana') of Allah.
The mim is the kingdom (mulk) of Allah. As for Allah, there is no god but Him.
The Rahman is kind to both the pious and impious of His creatures. The Rahim is kind only to the believers."

Ka'b al-Ahbar said, "The ba' is His radiance (baha'), the sin is His splendour (sana'), and there is nothing higher than it.
The mim is His kingdom, and He has power over all things and nothing is hard for Him."

It is said that every letter is the opening of one of His Names.
The ba' is the key to His Name Basir (All-Seeing).
The sin is the key to His Name, Sami' (All-Hearing).
The mim is the key to His Name, Malik (Master).
The alif is the key to His Name, Allah. The lam is the key to His Name, Latif (Kind).
The ha' is the key to His Name, Hadi (Guide).
The ra' is the key to His Name, Raziq (Provider).
The ha' is the key to His Name, Halim (Forbearing).
The nun is the key of His Name, Nur (Light).
The meaning of all this is supplication of Allah at the beginning of everything.
