Translators note

(الحَمدُ للهِ رَبِّ العَالمِين، الرَّحمنِ الرَّحيم، مَالكِ يَومِ الدّين، إِيَّاكَ نَعبُدُ وَ إِيَاكَ نَستَعِن، اِهدِناالصِّرَاطَ المُستَقِيم، صِرَاطَ الذَِّينَ أَنعَمتَ عَلَيهِم، غَيرِالمَغضُوبِ عَلَيهِم وَلاالضَّالِين)


"All Praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful, The Owner of the Day of Judgement, You alone we worship, and you alone we ask for help, Guide us to the straight way, The way of those whom You have bestowed Your Grace, not the way of those who have earned Your Anger, nor of those who went astray"1


اللّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّم وَبَارِك عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّد وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَصَحبِهِ أَبَدًا، أَفضَل صَلاَة صَلَيتَها علَى أَحَدٍ مِن خَلقِكَ، صَلاَةً وَسَلاَمًا دَائِمَينِ مُتَلاَزِمَينِ إِلَى يَومِ الدِّين


O' Allah send greetings and your choicest blessings on our Master Muhammed and upon His Family, and His Companions, the best of the greetings that You have ever sent to any one of Your Creation, greetings that are continuous and forever until the Day of Resurrection."

Indeed Allah Ta-Ala in His infinite mercy and wisdom has allowed us to have great personalities of the likes of Sayedina Abu Hamid Al Ghazali who has produced some of the greatest literature the Islamic World. All praise is to Allah, that from his many works, I have the opportunity to present a simple dissertation of his, "Ayuhal Walad" meaning "O My Son!" This dissertation was a reply written by this great Imam to a student of his, a student that was lost and confused about how to gain closeness to Allah. I found that this answer given by Imam Ghazali is very sufficient for those seeking the same closeness to Allah in this time that we are living in.

I ask Allah to grant all the readers of this humble peace of work, understanding and guidance, and I supplicate to Allah begging his forgiveness and His mercy, asking Him also to protect me, to guide me, to accept this translation from me and make it a way for me, my parents, my teachers and all the believing men and women to achieve Salvation! Ameen!


اللَّهُمَّ لاَ سَهلَ إلاَّ مَا جَعَلتَهُ سهلاً

"O Allah, nothing is simple accept that which You have made simple"
