Salaam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barkatahu,

Greetings brothers in Allah, The Prophet, and the Shaykh.

Since the time of Sidina Shaykh Tijani there have been many attempts as with the walis of the past to enter things in the books of the tariqa. There have been some attempts from some publishing companies in the past to misquote the Jawahir al Ma'ani. The only differences come in some subjects such as the recorded reward for the Salat al Fatihi. For example there are some original handwritten copies of the Jawahir al Ma'ani, one of them was in posession by Shaykh al Islam Sidi Ibrahim Niasse, and now is possesion with his grandson Shaykh Hasan Cisse. and there are slight difference of wording from the original copy and the copies that circulate today. There is nothing different which talks about the maqam of Shaykh Tijani, His students, and the other wordings. The only difference is in the section on Salatul al Fatihi. In the original manuscript the reward for Salat al Fatihi is for one time worth six thousand completions (khatm), Shaykh Ibrahim explains what was meant during that time in Fes was six thousand completions of Dalalil Khayrat, but the laymen took that to mean for the Quran. This is one of the proofs of the Seal of Muhammad Sainthood predicted by Shaykh al Akbar Ibn Arabi, where he said the people of truth will fight the seal and he will be ridiculed like no other saint before him.
And this is one of the methods that have been done by people trying to enter things into his books. But there are two ways out.

One is to have contact with a perfect guide or muqaddam that has the knowledge of the book and the tariqa in general.

And two is the statement of Shaykh Ahmad Tijani when asked if people will lie about him when he left. And he said "Yes, weigh what your hear on the scale of Shariah, if it takes it accept it, and if it rejects it leave it"

Dear brother

thank you for the answer.
Speaking about rewards of one times recitation of salatul fatihi is equal to 6.000 recitation of the noble book DALAILUL KHAIRAAT, i remember that my master Hajj Shiddiq once told me that recite one salatul fatihi is greater than the recitation of the Dalailul Khairaat.
Before being a Tijani, my master took the Dalail as his wird.
The Jawahir Maani in my master library is published in the year 1928, which he also translated some of the parts of the book into local language (sundaneese languange), which he named "JAWAHIR MAANI MIN KALAM SAYYIDI SYAIKH AHMAD TIJANI".

By the way, dear brother

I had a book written by ANNEMARIE SCHIMMEL the tittle is :
"AND MUHAMMAD IS HIS MESSENGER".

In one section, he talks about a sufi poetry written by a Haussa Poet Syaikh Ibrahim Niass.

" my heart has no longer miss those beautiful girls
what are those beautiful girl?
pretend them as an imaginary
beside THAHA Al Amin

I had forgot about Layla, Mayla dan Tandami
because of THAHA
Love that i know"

I wonder, is Syaikh Ibrahim who wrote this poet is Syaikh Ibrahim Niasse
our master in tariqa Tijaniyya? and what is Haussa? is it a name of a
place?

Salam.

Salaam Alaikum

No it is not the Shaykh al Islam Ibrahim Niasse, It is referring to a convert to Islam and a student of the shaykh that names himself after Shaykh Ibrahim Niasse after seeing a dream of the Prophet telling him to take Islam and to go to Shaykh Ibrahim as his student. When he became muslim he took after the Shaykh's name.

Hausa is one of the great ancient tribes of Nigeria. It must be known about the scholarship of Africa. For the only MUSLIM EMPIRES that existed and ruled according to Shariah law were only to be found amonst the muslim empires of Africa. The Hausa are one of the tribes that are known for its scholars and walis, and they came to Islam in the middle 900's while trading with Norh African Arabs.

If you can since you have a copy of the Jawahir al Ma'ani it would be nice to post some of it Inshallah to add on to what I have posted.

Inshallah.

Salam. What a wonderful site and tireless contribution by tijanimureed on the Tijani order. May Allah swt reward you.

I wanted information on the practices of the Tijanis. How many times a week do you have get together with other mureeds for dhikr? What exactly do you recite during the dhikr sessions? Do the mureeds gradually increase their spiritual practices? Please let me know.

Salaam Alaikum,

Al Hamdulillah. The tariqa tijaniyya revolves around three principles.

Istighfar, Sala ala Nabi, and La Illaha Illallah

All the zikr private or public is one of the three. But the practises of zikr are of three also.

The morning and evening wird

The daily group zikr (wazifah) which is obligatory if in a place where there are more than two. which must be done at least once every 24hours.

And the weekly Hadrah or Ha illah llah which is done from after asr until maghrib on Yawm Juma.

This is what is obligated for the Tijani faqir. on top of what has been dictated by the Sharia.

The method of training is a Muhammadi way of training, meaning one directs his energy, love, and thoughts throughout ones day and night to the upmost ability by sending prayers upon the Beloved Prophet. By doing this one connects spiritually with the Beloved directly, resulting in an individual one on one experience. In the tariqa tijaniyya, the salat ala nabi is believed to be the fastest of ALL routes to reach the Presence of the Divine.

Of course there are other zikrs and methods in this tariqa, but those cannot be spoken of in public. The daily group zikr is something that was strongly enforced by Shaykh Tijani at the command of the Beloved. For instead of just having to meet once a week for group zikr, in this tariqa it is prescribed daily if possible. The daily zikr or wazifa is composed of
1Fatiha
30 Istighfirllah Azeem al ladhi la illah illa huwa Al Hayyul Qayyum
50Salat al Fatihi
100 La Illaha Illallah
and 12 Jawhartu Kamal

This is prescribed for the purpose of zikr of course but the main reason is the barakat and sunnah of meeting with your brothers for the sake of Allah on a daily basis.

Then on Friday there is the zikr jumah or Ha illal Allah which is done after Asr until the time of Maghrib with the recitation of 1600 La Illaha Illa Allah.
more to follow Inshallah
