Sidi Muhammad Kabir was killed (martyr) alongside three hundred of his companions near a city called mascara (Algeria), some of his enemies accused him pretending that he was looking for replacing the governor killed.
The only reason that led him to go outside Ainul mahdi was to help the people in Mascara, Ain mahdi and the tribes alongside against the injustice of the gevernor turk, MOhamed Bey who used to impose high taxes.
Sidi Muhammad kebir used to help the people to pay their taxes to protect against the sanctitions of the cruel governor.
while he was in a spiritual retreat he heard many calling from the people, he composed an army of three men's from abi semghoun and Sahara most of them were ordinary people, when he reached by mascara, the Bey sent an army and in the moment of the fight the people of the city turned against Sidi Mohamed kabir and the all died as martyrs.
Sheikh Ahmad tijani predicted in many times what would happen to his son. One day while seyyidina was walking in Ain mahdi, seyyidina saw Muhammad kabir, while looking at him he bowed his head saying deeply """Hawari""" , all the people who were
around him understood the big sadness of seyyidina and that sidi Muhammad kabir will have the same end as one saint called Hawari who was betrayed in the circonstances as him.

Please note that this story is very similar to the story of Imam Husain ibn Ali ibn Abu Talib who was matyred along with about 300 of his close relatives in Karbala.
